Ryan Nothhaft is the founder of Blue Angel Phantoms, a multimedia project launched in 2016, to document the history of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels through first-hand interviews, short documentaries, and podcasts. His connection to the team is deeply personal—he is the grandson of Roy “Butch” Voris, the Blue Angels’ first flight leader in 1946, and grew up immersed in the stories and legacy of the team. Through Blue Angel Phantoms, he has produced more than 200 historical features and helped preserve the voices of generations of Blue Angels alumni. In recognition of his dedication to the team’s history, Nothhaft was named an Honorary Blue Angel in 2021.
